Claber
The Water School - the project
Claber set up the Water School not only to satisfy its need for a corporate research centre, but also as an environment capable of facilitating and strengthening the links between Claber, the local authorities and the universities.
The aim of the Water School is to promote materials science, environmental protection, scientific research and technical progress in the content of mankind’s most precious resource: water.
The Water School serves:
-
as an environmental and architectural reclamation project to revitalise the relationship between the river and the surrounding region
as a research laboratory to optimise water consumption in new products and systems.
-
as a training school to produce better qualified domestic and commercial irrigation professionals
as a centre to monitor the hydro-geology of the river and the health of its fish stocks
as a meeting place for operatives in the fields of scientific research, culture, industry and politics, to promote more responsible and progressive waterway management
as a multimedia centre for conferences and seminars on the subject of water, to assist the study of water from all points of view, from science to marketing and from anthropology to ecology
though the Water School is a prestigious institution, it is also an open organisation and certainly no ivory tower! While some initiatives may provide opportunities for advanced scientific discussion, others could well be dedicated, for example, to promoting a basic understanding of water among primary school children
The driving force behind the Water School is Claber’s desire to help create a different "culture of water" at all levels and with the involvement of all.
